GRADUATE SCHOOL OF CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

GRADUATE SCHOOL OF CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
The Graduate School of Clinical Psychology, Kagoshima University seeks to cultivate clinical psychologists who possess in-depth academic knowledge, first-rate abilities and outstanding professional ethics, and who are capable of providing psychological support tailored to the psychological needs of Japan’s citizens.

The Graduate School of Clinical Psychology, Kagoshima University was founded in April 2007, becoming the first independent clinical psychology graduate school at a Japanese university, with the aim of contributing to the psychological health of Japan’s citizens in the 21st century.

We have formulated a curriculum that integrates theory and practice, and we aim to cultivate clinical psychologists with a high level of professional expertise who can contribute to the strengthening of the education, welfare, healthcare, and judicial and correctional fields. Clinical psychology graduate schools are required to undergo certification assessment by the Japanese Certification Board for Clinical Psychologists every five years. The Graduate School of Clinical Psychology, Kagoshima University passed certification assessment in both 2011 and 2016.

Our graduates are eligible to take the Clinical Psychologist Examination. Students who took the classes required for National Certified Psychologist as part of their undergraduate degree who then go on to take the required national certified psychologist preparatory classes at the Graduate School of Clinical Psychology are also eligible to take the National Certified Psychologist Examination.
